Arnaud Wattiez

President of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy

World-renowned surgeon, President of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, and Course Director of IRCAD-EITS, Dr. Arnaud Wattiez has been a mentor and instructor to surgeons in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery all over the world.

Dr. Arnaud’s work is at the forefront of technical advances in endoscopic surgery in general and in gynecologic surgery in particular. Over the years he has developed widely accepted techniques in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, endometriosis, and gynecologic oncologic conditions.

Professor at the University of Strasbourg, where he is Gynecological Surgeon at the Hôpital de Hautepierre, he has had the distinction to be awarded, for his contributions in international teaching in MIGS, honorary professorships at Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Lièges University, and the Catholic University of Rome. Since 2004 he has served as Director for Advanced Courses in Gynecological Endoscopy of the Institut de Rechereche Contre le Cancer de l’Appareil Digestif (IRCAD) [translation: Institute for Research on Cancer of the Digestive Tract].

Member of the Société Francaise d'Endoscopie Gynécologique (S.F.E.G.) [French Society of Gynecological Endoscopy] and of the Collège National des Gynécologues et Obstétriciens Français (C.N.G.O.F.) [National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians], Dr. Wattiez has served as director of pedagogy at the International Center of Endoscopic Surgery (C.I.C.E.) and as an instructor in endoscopic education at Stanford University, California. He was a member of the A.A.G.L. Board in 2002.

In addition to his devoted work in France, he has been invited by hospitals from all over the world to demonstrate and perform gynecologic surgery; since 1991, Dr. Wattiez has performed more than a 1,000 cases concerning severe endometriosis, adhesive disease, pelvic organ prolapse, gynecologic malignancy (cancer), and many other conditions on all continents of the world.

Through the great breadth of his commitments to gynecologic practice, research, and pedagogy, he maintains his devotion to his patients, to his students, and to the process of the development safe and effective approaches to women’s health worldwide.
