Ronald LevineProfessor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Louisville School of MedicineWhile a resident in Obgyn, Dr. Ronald Levine did some early studies on the use of fetal electro cardiographic recordings to ascertain fetal life or demise and to identify multi fetal pregnancies. This resulted in the publication 'Fetal electrocardiography. A clinical evaluation using both standard and radio electrocardiography techniques' (1966). As Dr. Levine developed a sub-interest in endoscopy, several research studies were performed in this area. Research was conducted on the tensile strength of laparoscopic ligatures (1990) and the microbiologic effects of atmospheric conditions during laparoscopy (1993). Dr. Levine had the first publication of a laparoscopic bilateral oophorectomy in the United States. Dr. Levine is actively involved in the teaching of endoscopy, directing and participating in many advanced gynecologic endoscopy courses that have attracted attendees from all parts of the United States. Models that were developed for teaching were described in publication in 1988. ('Teaching model for endoscopic surgery: Hysteroscopy and pelviscopic surgery'). Dr. Levine has, planned and been a course director and participant in several Anatomy and Surgery workshops on unembalmed cadavers that have been held at the University of Louisville.
